Stefan Bishop
Los Angeles-based designer Stefan Bishop established his studio in 2012 and points to his upbringing in the woods of Southern Oregon as fundamental to his aesthetic and inspiration. His work is unmistakable and space-commanding. “My work seeks a balance between nature and creative forces,” says Bishop, “I’m interested in creating things that impact people on a gut level.” Housed in a 1920s mechanic shop, Stefan’s studio is a light-filled industrial space where his affinity for lumber, his chosen medium, is apparent. Stacks of wood planks and felled tree trunks abound, intermingled with sinuous sculptures and works-in-progress. A perfect spot, he says, for the days when he can unplug and spend his time “in the studio making dust all day.”
