Jeff Quinn

Ralph invited Jeff Quinn to create a mural on the façade of the Los Angeles gallery for his February 2020 show with Marjorie Salvaterra. Known for his expansive, otherworldly paintings, Jeff used the exterior walls to portray the unfortunate fates of two forgotten towns.  The four-part vignette titled "Arena (Neversink)" is inspired by two small towns in upstate New York that were submerged beneath 150 billion gallons of water to create a freshwater reservoir. Symbols of town infrastructure – churches, stores, cemeteries – along with homes and farms slowly drowned in the rising water. The four panels are an imagined picture of what remains - like a prosaic Atlantis - everything frozen in time, submerged in 200 feet of water. An eerie reminder of what is lost to time and a testament to the power of imagination.
